BIOGRAPHY

Alexandru Marius Săcui is a self taught artist and animator with a graphic design degree, mural painting and digital illustration experience. He lives in Georgia with his family and garden. Around 2000, Al Sacui invented Nosepilot. Some of his art is dedicated to deciphering a unique event many people believe impossible.

ARTIST STATEMENT

There was a time when I bought the story. The news explained immigration, terrorism, wars. Humanity. I've recently been reading books on history. An uncommon understanding is available. Hints of the truth are in plain sight, but the simplified publicly accepted explanation distracts away. At 50, I've come to see international turmoil clearly. Mysteries disappear.

I've always been hazy about art. I have a feeling there's a story out there that takes the mystery out of why art is and isn't appreciated. I haven't done my reading adequately.

At this point I'm running with the notion that the invention of photography forced a reaction. Art was going in a certain trajectory and it turned back and split off into unexpected directions. Possibly, invention has become a primary part of art. There might be some sort of avoidance of the Renaissance European look with no similar aversion to the World War era Cubist or abstract styles.

There are some sort of rules trickling down through galleries. About two years after AI came, galleries seem to have shut down entry to art with traces of AI. Such a united response to AI seems incongruent with a genuine respect for invention. I'm missing the story. Reading about colonization and the CIA has made sense out of the Middle East. I have a feeling the art world deep down has its own hidden explanation.

Art has no outliers. Someone made abstract art in the time of the Renaissance. It was not appreciated.

These are guesses.

Meanwhile, I've come to the point where I've decided to shun painting from photography. I've got half a lifetime of art that relies on photography. Art is bigger than that. Time to explore more of it.

Why does an artist pick a certain way to work? Here's some guesses. Artist compete in the technique popularly succesfull. At some point popularity was a monopoly. Today, there seem to be a dozen very different styles coexisting. Kinda seems once people find success in one style, they keep to it. Some artists, invent a second style. I have. The Melt. Unfortunately, computer art is not gallery art. It's hard to make a living without selling.

Can't quite think of an artist who travels all the highways. Who works in any technique at will. I've played around with so many ways of working, might as well do it all.

I'll do digital some time too.
