Alexandru Marius Săcui is a self taught artist and animator with a graphic design degree, mural painting and digital illustration experience. He was born in Communist Romania in 1975 and moved to America at the age of 9. Around 2000, Al Sacui's online animation Nosepilot made a splash. Adobe Flash, the technology he used for the animation disappeared. Sacui readily worked in any mediums that came his way before focusing on painting. He lives in Metro Atlanta with his family and garden.

My personal impression.

A society used to have a common artistic style which would fall out of fashion and would be replaced when there was a fundamental change in history. With the invention of photography, art faced an existential threat and scrambled to reinvent itself. Asia, the Americas, Europe, Africa and Australia all together participated in two back to back wars that saw the birth of the nuclear weapon capable of destroying the planet. A world governed through empires subsequently dissolved into a state of often volatile nations. Borders having been divided irresponsibly by the former empires. Technology has made moving across the planet accesible. Access to information has made it enticing. Migration across cultures has become universal. Intense stuff liable to shake things up. Opposing artistic techniques have come to coexist without replacing each other. Diversity and inclusion is a relatively recent controversial concept. Judging from a study of galleries, diversity and inclusion of all preceding and currently evolving artistic trends seems to be the rule.

Sure, artists tend to pick focused narrow lanes to work in. As if diversification into wider array of subjects or across styles would make their work irrecognizable. Find a unique style and don't wander from it. I'm not trained in art, but that's the impression on the street. My work fluctuates widely. The labels Brut, Expressionism, Surreal, Mannerist, Abstract have all at times floated about. In addition to painting, I've worked in computer-generated 3D animation, digital painting, vector art, and sculpture. Post Style. That appears to be my underlying strategy. My natural inclination. I identify with the rare artist who has found freedom.

I grew up with a black and white television. Black and white photography. Before computers in pockets and genetic engineering. During my lifetime, the world has undergone a deep gentle change. Art, you'd expect, would react. I'm going to bank on the result being more substantial than just advancements in social media promotion.
